Heavy Metals Profile II, 24 Hour Urine
Fasting Required: No

Specimen: Urine

Results: 5-7 Business Days

Limitations:
Ingestion of seafood within three days of specimen collection can affect results.

Description:
Heavy metals become toxic when they are not metabolized by the body and accumulate in the soft tissues. These metals may enter the body through food, water, air, or absorption through the skin. Heavy metal toxicity can result in damaged or reduced mental and central nervous function, lower energy levels, and damage to blood composition, lungs, kidneys, liver, and other vital organs. Long-term exposure may result in the physical, muscular, and neurological degenerative processes that mimic Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Muscular Dystrophy, and Multiple Sclerosis.

Includes
Arsenic, Lead, Mercury

Methodology
Inductively Coupled Plasma/Mass Spectrometry (ICP/MS)

Limitations
Ingestion of seafood within three days of specimen collection can affect results.

Clinical Significance
Excessive exposure to Heavy Metals can cause acute and chronic toxicity. Heavy Metals Panel is intended to evaluate and monitor exposure to heavy metals and evaluate the process of detoxification.

Note: Result turn around times are an estimate and are not guaranteed. Our reference lab may need additional time due to weather, holidays, confirmation/repeat testing, or equipment maintenance.
