Description:
Intrinsic factor blocking antibody, which prevents the binding of vitamin B12 to the intrinsic factor molecule, is present in >50% of all patients with pernicious anemia and only rarely encountered in other conditions.
Pernicious anemia is one of the major causes of vitamin B12 deficiency.
